Cuprum.

Mind and Disposition.

Craziness ; attacks with savage malice, with proud bearing, and at times interrupted by clonic spasms.

Great anguish, like fear of death ; restlessness, groaning, and desire to escape.

Attacks of rage (wants to bite the bystanders).

Convulsive laughter.

[5] Incoherent, delirious talk.

Head.

Vertigo while looking upwards, when reading ; the head inclines to bend forward ; worse during motion, better when lying down.

Painful hollow sensation in the head.

Tingling in the vertex.

Convulsions of the head ; the head is moved from one side to the other ; is drawn to one side or falls forward ; aggravated or renewed by each contact (hydrocephalus).

[10] Headache after an epileptic attack.

The head is twisted to one side ; falls forward.

Purplish-red swelling of the head ; face purple-red and blue lips ; convulsion and twitches in the limbs ; worse when touched, which causes the swelling to pain.

Eyes.

Eyes fixed (staring), sunken.

Protruded, glistening eyes.

[15] Eyes are turned upward.

Greater immobility of the pupils.

Violent itching in the eyes (evening).

Dim eyes ; they feel so weak that they close.

Ears.

Boring pain in and behind the ear.

[20] Itching in the ear.

Face.

Distorted muscles of the face ; sad, dejected expression.

Paleness of the face ; changed features, full of anguish.

Bluish face with bluish lips.

Mouth and Throat.

Spasmodic contraction of the jaws.

[25] Difficult dentition in children, with convulsions.

Inability to talk, on account of spasms in the throat.

Foam at the mouth.

Hoarse crying, like a child.

Coldness of the tip of the tongue.

[30] Burning in the throat ; dryness of the throat, with thirst.

Singultus and spasm of the oesophagus.

When drinking, the beverage descends in the gullet with a gurgling noise.

Excessive thirst, with great dryness of the throat.

Sweet taste in the mouth.

[35] Desire for warm food ; cats hastily.

Stomach and Abdomen.

Singultus preceding the spasms.

Nausea, ascending from the stomach into the throat.

Vomiting of water containing flakes, offensive smelling ; of bile, of blood.

Excessive vomiting accompanied by colic, diarrhoea, spasms.

[40] Vomiting is prevented by drinking cold water.

Pressure in the pit of the stomach ; worse from pressure.

Gnawing and corroding sensation in the stomach.

Violent colic, with great anxiety.

Pressure in the abdomen, as from a stone ; worse from contact.

[45] Violent spasms in the abdomen, with convulsions.

Ulcers ; (corroding, stinging) in the intestines.

Stool and Anus.

Suppressed stool, with general heat.

Violent watery diarrhoea (with flakes ; bloody diarrhoea).

Urinary Organs.

Suppressed secretion of urine (and stool).

[50] Urine dark-red, turbid, with yellowish sediment ; viscous, offensive.

Frequent nocturnal urination.

Respiratory Organs.

Suffocative arrest of breathing.

Asthma increases (at 3 A.M.) when bending the body backwards, when coughing, when laughing.

Painful contraction of the chest, especially after drinking.

[55] Hurried breathing, with rattling in the bronchial tubes.

Spasmodic constriction of the chest, obstructing breathing and preventing speech (after fright and anger).

Hooping-cough in long continuing attacks, causing suffocative fits ; one swallow of cold water relieves.

Violent palpitation of the heart (before the menses).

Extremities.

Upper. Jerking in the arms and hands.

[60] The arms and hands are bluish marbled.

Twitches of the muscles of the forearms and hands (morning).

The fingers twitch.

Herpes in the bends of the elbows, forming yellow scales, itching, especially in the evening.

Inflammation of lymphatic vessels from the hand to the shoulder, with violent swelling of the hand.

[65] Coldness of the hands.

Weakness and lameness of the hand.

Lower. In the knee-joint weakness, pain, as if broken.

Twitching of the muscles in the lower extremities.

Painful cramp in the calves.

[70] Twitching of the toes.

Burning of the soles of the feet.

Suppressed perspiration of the feet.

Sleep.

Deep sleep, with jerking in the limbs.

Lethargic sleep.

[75] During sleep constant grumbling in the abdomen.

Generalities.

Convulsions, with piercing cries.

Clonic spasms.

Epileptic attacks (at night), followed by headache.

Fever.

Pulse small, weak and slow.

[80] Chilliness over the whole body, mostly in the extremities.

Chilliness after every attack of indisposition (epileptic attacks).

Debilitating, hectic, internal heat.

Flushes of heat.

Cold perspiration at night.

[85] Many attacks (epileptic attacks, attacks of mania) end with (cold) perspiration.

Skin.

Herpes, with yellow scales.

Dry itch.

Old ulcers ; caries.

Conditions.

Contact renews and aggravates many complaints.

[90] Aggravation from vomiting.

Amelioration after drinking (a swallow of water relieves the cough).
