AMNIOTIC FLUID

(Amnii liquor)

PHARMACY - amn-l. Amniotic fluid. Amnii liquor. Tincture of the liquid obtained by a septic puncture.

Historical dose: All potencies.

HOMEOPATHIC - Amniotic fluid is a clear or limpid, yellowish-white fluid with flocculates. Alkaline or neutral reaction. May contain lanugo, or epidermal cells. May contain pepsin, diatase, fibrinase and anti staphylolysin. Hypotonic.

Composition is similar to blood serum,

1. Urea 18.25mg%,
2. Uric acid 4.51 mg.%,
3. Chlorides 5.93 mg%,
4. Creatine 2.33 mg%,
5. CO2, 34.77 vol.%.

Source of the organ of secretion is not known. its role is supportive, and also probably nutritive, it surrounds the embryo.

The proving, published by P. Schmidt in The Journal of the American institute of Homeopathy, 20:236-248, 1927, consisted of 7 provers and used "one dose of liquor amnii 30c."Schmidt noted that 'This remedy seems to act essentially on the head, abdomen and the menstrual periods. It seems to suit better the feminine temperament."

MIND - Increased mental activity. Tends to overwork, industrious. Mania for work. Irritability. Restlessness. nervousness.

Abdomen - Pain in abdomen.

Head- One-sided headaches. Pains in sides of head.

Female - Menstrual disorders.

Sleep - Disturbed sleep. Restless during sleep. Tossing about in the bed.

COMMENTS - Hering related a case of a soldier who, while carrying a wounded comrade, was struck by a spent bullet in the epigastrium. He became pale and weak, ''felt the wind knocked out of him" and laid down. A drop of Liquor ammon. in water relieved at once.
