PHARMACY - succ. Amber. Fossil Raisin. Succinum purum. Amber oil. (A mineralized Fossil Raisin, not to beconfused with Ambergris. Ambra). Trituration. Solution of the non-rectified oil prepared by dry distillation of Amber. Solution of Succinic acid.

Historical dose: All potencies. Drop doses of the oil.

CLINICAL – Asthma Fears. Globus. Hay fever. Hiccough. Hysteria. Leucocythemia splenica, Spleen disorders.

HOMEOPATHIC - The fossil resin known as Amber has been used m folk medicine by many cultures.

Dr. Morris Weiner tested Amber. which he prepared himself from Amber, by dry distillation. The fumes of the erode acid, he said, are inflammable and produce asthma. cough, sneezing. weeping, dropping of watery mucus from nostrils, pain in chest and headache.

On this indication he treated thirty persons suffering from hay fever, and cured them all, saving them the necessity of making an annual exodus. He gave one or two grains of the 3x trituration of Amber diluted m twelve teaspoonfuls of water. Ate a spoonful every two hours.

Burnell wrote in Diseases of Spleen, that the Amber non-rectified oil is used as an organ remedy m spleen affection. especially when accompanied by nervous and hysterical phenomena. Burnett noted it for hysterical convulsions m women.

The erode oil is a thick, brown liquid having a strong empyreumatic odor It is a powerful local irritant and has been used with success as such in lumbago. rheumatism and sciatica.

Amber produces many nervous and hysterical symptoms. Asthma. Fear of trains and closed places. Affections of spleen. Symptoms of collapse. The patient aborted. but recovered.

Heaviness externally. Lassitude. Lie down, desire to. Pulse slow. Trembling externally. Twitching. Weakness, daytime afternoon. Weakness after walking.

COMMENTS - Amber enters into the e-0m-position of "Roche's Embrocation," and "Haarlem Oil," and has a popular reputation as a remedy for whooping cough when rubbed into the spine night and morning. A tablespoonful dose, said Murrell, caused persistent vomiting, diarrhea and symptoms of collapse and the patient aborted.

These observations are of value in relation to Burnett's experience. He added half a scruple of Amber oil to six ounces of Acorn-water. They do not mix chemically, but by shaking each Time a dose is taken the required division and potency is attained.

Burnett's keynote is "painful spleen dis-orders where there are convulsive attacks such as the hysterical and hypochondriacal often have."

Burnett related in his book a most re-markable case of "chronic enlargement of the spleen with hyperesthesia, head pain, Dyspnea orthopnea, convulsions" in a young lady ·'towards the end of her teens."

After years of treatment, Burnett concluded from Rademacher's account of Amber oil. that it might provide the remedy. Amber oil was given in five-drop doses three Times a day. In forty-eight hours, the convulsive attacks ceased for good and all the phenomena slowly leucocythemia.

A keynote of Burnett's is "Fear of trains and close places” His dose is five drops of Amber oil three Times a day.
