HOMEOPATHIC - The well-known astringent action of Alum. gives a leading indication for its use in practice. On the other hand, it is equally available for the states of relaxation, which corresponds with its secondary action.

Stools as hard as stones. No desire for stool for days. Aggravated constipation and hemorrhage from bowels during the course of typhoid. Cancerofuterusand rectum with the most obstinateconstipation.

Constrictions and congestions of sphincters and various parts.

Tendency to induration of glands and other tissues. Tongue. rectum, uterus etc., are hardened, ulcers with Indurated base. indurations following inflammation. Lupus or cancer of nose. Scirrhus of the tongue.

Paralytic weakness of all the muscles of the body with typhoid. Relaxation of muscles. 

Prolapsed uterus and rectum, excruciating pains. Sensation of dryness and constriction. Mental paresis, dysphagia especially to liquids.

Sluggish action of muscles, hemorrhages of various kinds, large clots in typhoid, relaxed mucus membranes, relaxed uvula, hoarseness and bronchial affections, diarrhea. Sensitive to cold, exposure to air causes roughness and chaps in the skin. Yellow bland discharges.

Useful after operations on the eyes and teeth. Hemorrhages from leech bites, extracting teeth, etc. Parenchymatous bleeding from mouth, gums, nose, uterus. Hemorrhages of dark blood. Mucus membrane dry in nose, on tongue in mouth, larynx. Emaciation. Joints of arms, hands and feet feel bruised.

MIND · Nervous tremors from bad news. Doubting people. Lectophobia. Desires to remain in bed. Fear of falling. Spells of rage, attacks people.

Thinking about disease causes palpitations. Anxiety at night. Anxiety at night with nausea and headache. Sadness in morning. Weeping in morning.

Abdomen - Colic worse by walking, with fullness and heaviness. Potter's colic, lead colic. Abdomen retracted, better from pressure. Contractive sensation deep in pelvis with complaints of rectum and bladder.

Back - Sensation as if cold water were poured down back, with headache. Back-ache in evening on both sides of spine, with every deep inhalation. Weakness of spine in evening.

Bladder - Irritable bladder alternating with pain in vertex. Catarrh of bladder, mostly with the aged. Discharge of mucus from urethra. Itching of orifice of urethra.

Breasts- Sore. inflamed nipples. Induration of cervix and breasts (Carb-an., Con.). Breast cancer.

Causations - Bad news. Operations on eyes, on teeth.

Constitutions - Adapted to elderly people, especially bronchial catarrhs. Disease of bladder. Children with profuse bronchial catarrh. 

Coughs - Cough in morning before break-fast, better after. Dry cough, in evening after lying down. Chronic morning cough of elderly people. Cough from tickling in larynx caused by talking.

Ears - Heat in both ears and left side of face at night. Purulent otorrhea. Hears every noise in sleep.

Eyes - Wild look with spells of rage. Bruised feeling on pressure or by moving eye lids. Spots on cornea. Prolapse of iris after cataract operation. Right eye squints towards the nose. Varicosities of conjunctiva. Purulent ophthalmia of infants. Itching burning on border of lower lids. Dilated pupils. Diplopia by candlelight. Sees double by candlelight.

Female - induration of cervix. Left ovary affected. Menses scanty, watery. Hands weak, drops things during menses. Chronic gonorrhea, yellow with little lumps along urethra. Weight and pro-lapse of uterus. Affections of left ovary with troublesome constipatio11. Chronic yellow vaginal discharge. Leucorrhea and emaciation with yellow complexion. Vagina very sensitive, and narrowed by swellings of various size. Vaginismus. Itching. Aphthous patches in vagina (Caul.). Bleeding after childbirth.

Food - Appetite increased, even with fullness in stomach. Loathes food. Emaciation. Thirst, throat dry and increased appetite with heat in stomach, better by drinking cold water, intense with fever. Mouth dry, but no increase of thirst.

Head - Alopecia. Rush of blood to head. Headache, better drinking cold water. Burning pain and weight on vertex, better ice-cold cloths pressed on the part. Headache shooting through temples with nausea, better drinking cold water. Jerking pain in left forehead, evening. Pains coming and going, from place to place. Headache in morning on awaking.

Heart - Palpitations worse from thinking of her disease. Palpitations from lying down on right side. Palpitation from mental excitement. Pain from heart to lower part of right leg. Dilatation of heart. Strong pulsation through whole body.

Kidneys - Frequent and painful urging with painful passing of small quantities of urine. Must urinate every hour or two, night and day. Diabetes mellitus. Urine passed with difficulty. Oily iridesce11tfilrn on urine. Urine falls down perpendicularly (Hep.). Urine scanty, clear flow, containing lumps of blood. Urine sediment slimy, tough or membranous. Scanty, reddish urine in colic.

Limbs- Bruised pain in joints of arms, hands and feet. Weaknessofallmuscles, especially arms and legs. Constricted feeling around limbs. Cold hands and feet during pain in stomach. Chilblains.

Lungs - Asthma. Croup and bronchitis. Catarrh of chest. Hemoptysis. Great weak-ness of chest. Difficult to expel mucus. Copious ropy, expectoration in morning in elderly persons. Ropy sputa. Atonic hemoptysis.

Male- Eczema on the back of penis and scrotum. Erections while at dinner. Frequent emissions. Gonorrhea, gleet. Shooting pain from middle line of belly, as along a thread, down in to penis. Cutting pain in left side of penis.

Modalities- Worse from cold, except head-ache, which is relieved by cold. Worse during sleep. Worse lying on right side. Worse bad news.

Mouth - Mouth dry, without thirst. Dry-ness of mouth, tongue and throat. Taste bitter, sourish, astringent. Taste sweetish. Disgusting after taste. Spreading ulcers in mouth. Noma. Profuse salivation, mercurial in origin or not.

Nose - Nasal polyps, left side with rough skin all over the face and body. Lupus or cancer on nose. Dryness of nostrils and choanae. Nosebleed.

Rectum - Constipation of the most aggravated kind, as in cancer of uterus and rectum. No desire to stool for days. Violent ineffectual urging to stool. No ability to expel stool. Marblelike masses pass, but rectum still feels full. Itching after stool. Itching in anus. Long lasting pain and smarting in rectum after stool, also hemorrhoids. Yellow like an infant's. Hemorrhage from bowels. Hematemesis of hard drinkers. Passes large clots.

Sensations - Sensation of dryness. Sensation of constriction, as if a cord or band around limbs in paralytic states.

Skin - Skin roughens and chaps after exposure to cold air. Skin dry. Eczema. Proud flesh, chilblains, indolent ulcers. Ulcers with indurated base. Indolent ulcers. Scorbutic ulcers. indurations resulting from chronic inflammations. Glands inflame and harden. Furuncles on body, on thighs. Fungus granulations. Alopecia. Epithelioma. Veins become varicose and bleed.

Sleep - Many complaints come on during sleep, like nightmares. Light sleep, hears every little noise. Can't get to sleep on account of orgasm of blood. Sleepless-ness from fever. Disturbed by nightmare, at4 a.m.

Stomach - Burning heat, better by drinking cold water. Sinking sensation. better by eating. The pain is better by pressing on stomach. Nausea with faintness and weakness. Attacks of nausea in morning before breakfast. Vomits large quantities of glairy mucus or tough, colorless slime. Vomiting of everything he eats. Vomits blood. Habitual vomiting in alcoholics.

Teeth - Teeth loose. Teeth and gums scorbutic. Gums swollen, inflamed, spongy. Profuse bleeding after extraction of tooth.

Temperature - Chill during nausea. Cold-ness followed by headache. Coldness of skin followed by heat and tingling. Cold-ness during pain in stomach, followed by heat with rush of blood to head, can hardly hold it up. Furious delirium. Fever with intense thirst, nausea, etc. Internal heat throughout body. Heat in forehead. Warmth creeps over abdomen.

Throat- Tendency to throat colds. Burning and severe pains. Hoarseness worse from talking. Aphonia. Enlarged and indurated tonsils from frequent colds. Every cold settle in throat. Mucus membrane red and swollen. Throat relaxed. Throat sore and dry when swallowing fluids. Uvula inflamed and enlarged. Uvula elongated, relaxed. Scraping in throat with cough.

Tickling in throat. Burning pain down the esophagus. Constriction, spasms of esophagus. liquids can scarcely be swallowed.

Tongue - Dryness of tongue. Tongue dry, black. Tongue burning in evening. Tongue sour feeling stitches worse at tip. Tongue clean, except a slight coating of slime on back part. Scirrhus of tongue.

Vertigo - Vertigo with weakness in the pit of stomach. better opening eyes, turning on right side. Vertigo when lying on his back.

COMMENTS - The Alumn. patient is very sensitive to cold, exposure to air roughens and chaps the skin. Slight scratches bleed. Bleeding after tooth extraction. Catarrhal conditions prevail throughout.

Sensations of dryness and contraction. Contractive sensation in abdomen and pelvis and retraction of abdomen as in lead colic. Paralytic states with the sensation as if bound with a tight band.

Tendency to indurations whenever inflammations occur. Scirrhus in durations ,indurated glands. Pains are insupportable. Attacks come and go suddenly, periodically.

Many complaints come on during sleep, like nightmares. Turning on right side improves the vertigo. Lying on right side brings on palpitations. There is sensitive-ness to all sorts of weather changes and especially to cold.

P. Wesselheft cured bronchitis characterized by scraping from upper sternum to throat with free expectoration of thick, yellow mucus. paroxysmal cough, morning cough with gagging.

Aching in chest and in the lower part of the back in region of lower ribs. Profuse expectoration with a scraping pain. for scraping coughs arc usually dry. All-c. had helped the preliminary sneezing and coryza.

Antidoted by: Cham.-er. imps in abdomen. Nux-v., ip.-nausea and vomiting. Sulph.

Antidoteto: Lead poisoning. calomel and other mercurial, Aloe vomiting blood.
