PHARMACY - allox. Alloxanum. Meoxalylurea. Allopath1c drug. It takes the form of rhomboid crystals soluble in alcohol and insoluble in water. The anhydrous crystals are dark yellow in color. the hydrogenical crystals are colorless.

HOMEOPATHIC - Alloxan was discovered accidentally by Oum and his collaborators in 1943. The toxicological action can be seen at the level of the pancreas, the kidneys. the liver, the lungs and in the blood. In animals, diabetes mellitus is provoked or in other words alloxanic diabetes. There would be a rapid degeneration if the islet Beta cells responsible for the production of insulin.

The homeopathic proving of Alloxan was undertaken by Templet on two occasions, in 1949 on six provers, when the potencies 6c and 30c were tried out, and in 1951 on nine provers and seven controls.

Lack of heat and vital reaction. Disturbed sleep with nightmares. General indifference. Need for solitude. Dryness of digestive mucus membranes. Diabetes mellites. Excessive thirst and frequent urination. Joint pains in the lumbar, sacral and ileocecal regions. Neuralgia of the tongue. Toothache.

Acrid dyspepsia. Spontaneous ecchymosis and eruption of itching pimples. Sensation of body being dispersed into different parts. Osteoporosis and muscular weakness. Decrease of phosphoremia and increase of phosphates in the blood. Glycosuria without hyperglycemia.

MIND - Great forgetfulness. Forgets places, names, things just done, just heard. Loss of short-term memory. Spelling mistakes. Words don't register. Mistakes in spelling. Dyslexia. Silly mistakes in writing simple words. Silly sort of attitude to serious things.

Alcoholic poly-neuritis with mental troubles. Paranoia. Sadness and tearfulness improved by solitude. Need for solitude and uneasiness about the future. Weeping better when alone.

Abdomen - Abdominal distention with profuse rumbling. Toxic diabetes. Ileocecal pain. aggravated by bending forwards and by movement. Sensation of a band around abdomen.

Back - Stiffness better stretching. Pain and cervical stiffness, aggravated in bed, ameliorated by stretching. Cramping pain in the shoulder blade, cutting pain. aggravated by drinking. Lumbar rheumatism. Arthritis of the spine, preventing movement. Pain in the lower lumbar region, worse in bed, in kneeling position and by standing, better by hot weather. Pain in lumbar region worse cold weather. Pain in lumbo-sacral region extending down legs.

Bladder - Feeling of fullness in the bladder. Coldness in bladder, worse draft of air. Sensation as if bladder is swollen. Incontinence on hurrying to get up, on sneezing. Bedwetting.

Blood - Reduction in the number of phosphates in the blood plasma, normal presence of glucose in the blood, azotemia. Reduction of sedimentation rate.

Chest - Feeling of a heavy weight on the chest. Heaviness better menses. Stitching pain better menses.

Constitutions -The subjects are often phosphoric and very weak. Subjects nervous, uneasy, anxious.

Ears - Deep, drumming pain inside. Itching of the auditory canal. Eczema of the outer ear.

Eyes - Conjunctivitis. Eyelids red, burning and itching. Eyes painful, especially as a result of light and after reading, ameliorated by closing the lids. Sight dim with patches and bright spots. Myopia. Dim vision and twitching of eyelids, on waking (Cycl.). Sparks like fragments of fire.

Female - Inflammation of the vulva and vagina. Feeling of swelling in the vagina, especially after standing for a long time. White leucorrhea, non-irritating, but increasing with the approach of menses. Sensation as if vagina were swollen, worse standing.

Food - Feeling of hunger, quickly sated. Hypoglycemia. Aversion to salt. Desire for cold drinks, refreshing things. Excessive throat and feeling of dryness. Worse cold drinks. warm drinks. Better warm drinks,

Head - Feeling of constriction and heat in 1he head. which is cold to the touch. Heaviness of head on waking with sensation of 1he hair being pulled. Headache belter ascending steps. better closing eyes. worse coughing, worse hot room. Headache from hunger, but eating does not relieve. Headache worse laughing. better talking. better travelling.

Heart - Pain as of a punch in 1he precordial region. Shooting pain in the heart, worse when walking. Re1ro-stemal cramping pain. Cardiac neurosis.

Kidneys - Kidney pain on the left side on urination. Dysuria. Glycosuria. Frothy urine, burning as ii passes down the urethra. Frequent urination by day. Waking from urging to urinate. morbid desire. Sudden urging, can't hold urine for long.

Limbs - Cramp in Ihecalvesand1oesin bed. Aching with shivering in the arms. legs. Ameliorated by stretching out. aggravated by the cold and by standing. Chronic joint problems. Chronic rheumatism of the hip. Heaviness and prominent veins in the legs. Varicose veins. Varicose hemorrhage. Itching of leg followed by ecchymoses. Numbness of arms when raising them. Numbness of legs when crossing them.

Liver - Pain in liver on breathing, after eating, better eating, better pressure. Pulsating in liver. Bubbling in region of liver.

Lungs - Breathing difficult after meals.

Modalities - Better from climbing stairs. Better closing eyes. Better eating. but if hungry. there is no improvement. Worse by dust, smells. Worse heat. Worse coughing. Worse laughter. Worse physical or mental exertion. Worse noise. Worse left side. Worse between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Mouth - Breath smells little apples. Salty taste on lips. Sweetish taste on lips. Corners of lips cracked. Dry, chapped lips. Lower jaw painful. Toothache, aggravated by sweet things. Tip of tongue painful.

Small, superficial ulcers on the mouth and palate. Biller, acrid taste, sweet taste on the lips. Mouth dry.

Nose - Acute catarrh of the nasal mucus membrane with streaming. sometimes from the right side, sometimes from the left. Aggravated by dust, smells and heat. Catarrh from dust. Sensation of heat in nose on insp1ra1ion. Smell in nose as of musty books.

Rectum - Diarrhea, worse between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. leaving a burning excoriation in the anus. Feeling of insufficient evacuation. Stools clammy and sticky, blood streaked. Fullness af1er stool.

Skin - Dry, cracking eczema. Ecchymosis. Rheumatoid purpura. Purpura without fever, beginning suddenly with large, benign ecchymoses. Hands dry. chapped. Spontaneous bruising of the fingers and legs. Skin dirty, with eruption of itching pimples.

Sleep - Troubled sleep with dreams. nightmares. Sleepwalking. somnambulism. Insomnia un1il 2 a.m. Sleep disturbed by dreams. Dreams of accidents. Dreams being chased by a horse. Dreams of resurrection. Dreams of death of a friend. Dreams of bandits. robbers. Dreams of rats, toads, frogs in the bed. Dreams of being followed or falling. Dreams killing with a knife. Stomach- Nausea before meals and heavy, aching feeling after. Nausea when travel-ling.

Throat - Acute and chronic laryngitis and pharyngitis. Dry. painful on the left side with burning. grating pain. Swallowing painful, improved with a hot drink. Throat pain better drinking. better expectoration, worse singing, when talking.
