HOMEOPATHIC - Plaster of Paris is so named because of the prevalence of gypsum in the Paris basin where it was originally produced. Plaster of Paris is generally the hemi hydrate of Calcium Sulphate-CaSO4-2H2O. Alabaster is a fine-grained, massive, opaque or translucent variety of gypsum. It tends to be white in col<>r but can be streaked or tinted with brown. red. yellow, green, etc.

Chemically, alab asteris hydrous Calcium Sulphate manifesting as a monoclinic crystal structure. Gypsum is formed by the evaporation of bedded deposits that are precipitated mainly from evaporating saline water.

It has been used for centuries for making statues, carvings, ornaments and for decorations. The pyramids near Cairo were originally faced in alabaster, but it is now completely weathered away.

Plaster of Paris (and gypsum plaster) is made by the partial (or complete) dehydration of gypsum by heating or burning. When mixed with water, it gives a plastic paste which can be cast or molded. It eventually sets and hardens due to the chemical recombination of the gypsum with water.

MIND - Rocks violently. Muddled mind. Memory poor. Forgetful. Low self-confidence. Indecisive. Feeling very impatient and irritable. Tired physically, bright men-tally. Feels depleted. Want to be held, feels vulnerable.

Anxious, fretful, worrying. Anxious on waking. Anxious about future. Anxiety about gelling breast cancer. Panic attack, anxious and unable to breath. Fear of death. Fear of life. Fear of the dark. Fear of madness.

Restless, but mind doesn't feel as though it wants to think about anything in particu-lar. Hard to relax, feels vulnerable, stupid. Sensation as if smiling. Tired and restless having to do lots of things. Thinking about travelling.

Depressed and hopeless. Sad, melancholic, blue. Very moody and impatient. Woke feeling very low. Sensation as if, too much to do, feel sorry for myself, teary. Craves some peace and quiet. Don't like crowds.

Discontented. Intolerant, irritable. Ennui. Panicky and weepy. Irritable and angry with people at work. Anger towards former work colleagues. Feels irritable in the morning.

Abdomen - Colic. Griping pain in both sides of lower abdomen. Sudden pains in right abdomen, extending to rectum and extending upwards. Abdominal pains after eating. Achey and bloated feeling.

Abdomen bloated and tender. Solar plexus feels heavy. Sharp stabbing pain, left side of abdomen. Nausea and pain abdomen after eating.

Back - Neck very stiff. Neck aching. Back aching down spine with pain shooting from lower backdown to both ankles. Stiffness down spine. Desire to twist spine for relief. Tingling base of neck at the back. Skin dry and itchy. Pain in upper back, especially right side. Pain sore, nagging, stitching, tender, compressing. Lower back pain. Coldness middle of back. Backache in middle of back, piercing pain. Backache, worse moving around worse sitting.

Bladder- Bladder discomfort. Burning pain. Not passing urine as often as usual.

Breasts - Breast tenderness, worse before menses. Eruptions on outer side of both breasts. Mastitis. Pain in right breast.

Chests - Sides of chest itch. Chest feels tight. Chest and solar plexus feels heavy. Sore pain.

Cough - Weak cough while eating. Cough from a tickle in the throat. Cough with yellow-brown mucus. Tickling cough. Woke in night with coughing and cramping pain right lower leg.

Ears - Very itchy in ear canal. Popping sound in right ear. Right ear bums and feels warm. Achey and sore. Pain deep in right ear. Shooting sensation below right ear extending to nose and eye. Boring sensation in both ears, better rubbing finger in ear. Left ear, shooting pain, at end of conversation. Sensitive hearing to ticking clock. Tinnitus. Ringing in ears. Sounds more acute on left side. Buzzing noise. Hissing noise.

Eyes - Burning sensation outer corner of right eye. Right eye watering. Heavy and aching pain better closed eyes. Eyes sore, as if tired. Aching pain in left eye. As if, conjunctivitis in right eye. Hard to open eyes, scratchy discomfort and watering. Eyes feel very tired, wants to close them. Woke with watering eyes and blocked nose. Sharp pain in right eye on rubbing it in morning. Woke with eyes discharging and gluey, crusted. Eye irritation and puffiness, worse perfumes.

Face - Upper lip hot and burning. Skin very itchy, especially around right eye and cheek. Numbness of upper lip. Skin on face very sensitive. Cheeks warm, especially right side. Bags under eyes after heavy sleep. Face looked pale. Pins and needles sensations in face. Rash on face and neck, red, sore, itchy. Stinging red rash on forehead and right-side face.

Female - Cramping in uterus just before period. Bloating and nausea before menses. Menses profuse with clots. Menses scanty. Leucorrhea with fishy discharge. Thrush symptoms, itching and white discharge. Vaginitis. Vagina red and sore. Vaginal irritation better cold water. Discharge, mucus, cream, pale yellow color. Discharge pink again and specks of blood.

Food - No appetite. Thirstier. Craved hot chocolate drink.

Head - Head feels hot. Pressure at back of head in a band running from ear to ear. Headache, back of neck very stiff. Dull ache in occiput extending to temples, worse bending forwards. Temples pounding. Headache all day not better for fresh air or drinking cold water. Head feels full, heavy. Woke with a headache. Pain in head. left side. Headache across forehead and temples. Frontal headache. Light headedness worse moving quickly. Pain in forehead, behind eyes, a nauseating pain. Pain as if brain being squeezed.

Heart - Heart feels as if it's beating faster. Dull, bruised pain in heart.

Limbs – Leg area sensitive. Feels like electric shocks, during menses, running from bot-tom to ankles. Pain in legs like sciatica, worse bending forward, worse sitting. Sciatica pain worse running. Shooting pains down legs. Hands sensitive to washing. Red blotchy rash on back of hands. Eczema elbows. Twinges of rheumatic pain, left hip. Restless legs. Twitching of legs. Legs feel very tired and heavy. Left knee aches. Pin-prick sensation in right knee. Skin on buttocks dry and flakey. not itchy. Legs felt weak when went up-stairs. Tingling in hand. Cramps in limbs. Feet very cold. Legs ache. Aching limbs. Ankles cold.

Lungs - Feels breathless. Wheezy. Yellow, brown expectoration.

Male - Burning pain in the root of the penis and lower urinary tract.

Mouth - Metallic taste. Biller, taste in mouth. Very dry mouth. Roof of mouth feels a bit greasy. Mouth ulcer in right cheek. Tingling in middle of lower lip. Gums puffy round tooth. Gums bleeding, when brushed teeth. Itchy palate.

Nose - Very itchy inside nose. Colds. Sneezing and runny nose. Nose blocked both sides. Nose tender, feels bashed. Feels broken across bridge of nose. Sensitive to house dust while cleaning. Constant sneezing. Nasal catarrh and sneezing. Lots of mucus in back of throat, nose blocked. More sensitive to smells. Sinus congestion. Tickle on end of nose.

Perspiration - More sweaty than usual, sticky armpits. Less sweaty at night.

Rectum - Rectum feels full, doesn't feel empty even after passing a stool. Windy and loose stools, accompanying right sided (hypochondria) pain. Constipation. Smelly stools. Loose stool, a bit explosive.

Skin - Skin is dry and itchy. Skin feels hot. Red rash. sore, itchy. Worse cold weather, better being outside. Stinging red rash on forehead and right-side face. Moles, bleeding. Mole with slight prickling, scabbed over. Itchy skin after alcohol. especially legs, worse left.

Sleep - Heavy sleep. Panic attack before going to sleep, fearful not sure of what. Sleeplessness. Restless night. Waking up a lot. Woke with restless legs. Woke very fearful. Woke during the night feeling really depressed and hopeless. Anxious dreams. Dreams of dead people. Nostalgic dreams. Dreams of water. Dreams of work. Lots of different, active dreams. Vivid, intense dreams.

Stomach - Belching. Queasy feeling before breakfast. Rumbling and gurgling. Nausea and pain abdomen after eating. Nauseous and sick feeling. Nauseous at thought of food.

Teeth-Slightly clenching teeth. Pain in left upper molars. Toothache, dull pain. Right upper tooth socket bleeds.

Temperature – Cold and clammy. Feels quite warm. Mild fever. Felt hot.

Throat - Voice hoarse but painless. Voice sounded husky and broken. Laryngitis. Mucus. need to keep clearing throat. Mucus, back of throat. Sore throat. Swollen painful throat, hurts to swallow. Throat sore, both sides, dry and stinging. Woke with painful throat. Dry, burning, raw, difficult to swallow. Feeling something stuck in throat. Throat felt constricted. Mucus running down back of throat. Slight nausea in throat. Tickly feeling at back of throat, extends to left ear, sinuses.

Vertigo - Slight dizziness.

RELATIONS - Compare: Chemically related remedies would be Calc-sulph. (Calcium Sulphate- CaS04) and Hepar-sulph. (impure Calcium Sulphide - CaS).
