N.0. - Fungi. Grows in Europe, Asia and America in dry places, especially in dry pine woods. Trituration of the carefully dried-up cap. Tincture of the fresh fungus.

HOMEOPATHIC- Agaricus contains several toxic compounds, the best known of which is muscarin. The symptoms of poisoning do not develop at once, usually twelve to four-teen hours elapse before the initial attack. Agaricus acts as an intoxicant to the brain, producing more vertigo and delirium than alcohol, followed by profound sleep with lowered reflexes.
Agaricus is used in many parts of the world for making an intoxicating drink. We find in alcoholism a sphere for its action and also in all states of delirium, mania and even idiocy. Cerebral excitement, as found in delirium of fevers, alcoholism. etc. The delirium is to make verses and prophesy, also silly merriness and incoherent talk with mania, kisses companions.
Frostbite and chilblains, itching, redness and burning. Burning. Sensations if pierced by needles of ice. Sensitive to pressure and cold air. Violent bearing down pains. Symptoms appear diagonally as right arm and left leg. Pains are accompanied by sensation of cold. numbness and tingling.
General paralysis. Jerking, twitching, Trembling and itching are strong indications.
Epilepsy with great exertion of strength. Chorea, twitching ceases duri11g sleep. Various forms of neuralgia and spasmodic disorders and neurotic skin troubles are pictured in the symptomatology of this remedy.
Agar. is a spleen medicine, causing stitch in the side and it has cured stitch in runners, enabling them to run further. Anemia. Incipient tuberculosis is related to the tubercular diathesis. Offensive breath, belching and stools. Sweat may be oily, but is not offensive.
MIND - Mental depression, languor, in difference. Disinclination to work, confusion. Indisposed to perform any kind of work especially mental. Can not do anything new, cannot do routine work, or does the opposite. Slow in learning to walk and talk. Awkward and clumsy.
Morose, self-willed, stubborn. Selfish behavior. Alcoholism. Dull and dizzy as if drunk. Delirium tremens. Reveals secrets. Pressure on spine causes involuntary laughter. Aversion to being touched.
Hyperactive, clumsy children without any fear or idea about danger. Fearlessness, recklessness and thoughtlessness. Convulsions after being scolded (lgn.).
Makes many revengeful plans. Confusion of mind on waking in morning, better after eating. Knows no one, throws things.
Hysteria after sexual excesses. Memory active. in evening.
Fears to be left alone lest he injure himself in a frenq. Fear of cancer. Preoccupied with death, dying, graveyards. Fear of ghosts. Fear after going to bed. Pities herself.
Delirium of fevers. Delirium character-i,.ed by makes verses. singing, shouting and muttering. rhymes and prophesies. Increased cheerfulness, courage, loquacity, exalted fancy. Hilarious. Embraces and kisses hands.
Delirium with much twitching. Fearlessness. Sings. talks incoherently, but does not answer. Loquacity, changes rapidly from subject to subject, but does not answer.
Great mental excitement and incoherent talking. immoderate gaiety alternates with melancholy. Perception of relative size of objects is lost. Physical strength is increased, can lift heavy loads. Delirium begins with paroxysm of yawning.
Sings. talks incoherently, changes rap-idly from subject to subject. but doesn't answer. Full of ecstaty. Furious or raging delirium. Screaming, raging. wants to injure himself.
Abdomen – Burning in abdomen. Flatulent distention of abdomen. Sharp pains in spleen (Cean.), and abdomen. Sharp pain in the splenic region in runners. Colic. Cutting. griping pains in bowels. Rumbling and fermenting in bowels. Profuse, inodorous, hot flatus. Sensation of writhing. Abdomen as if empty. hollow or cold.
Back - Painful weakness and soreness. Shooting, burning pains along spine. Pain with sensitiveness of spine to touch. worse in dorsal region. Aching in back after dinner. Burning pains along the spinal cord. Pain as if hot and cold needles stabbed into spine. Painfulness along spinal cord when stooping. Painful pulsation in spinal canal. Lumbago. worse in open air. shock in back and neck. Twitching of cervical muscles. Spine seems shoi1. Muscles of back feel tight. as if they would break on bending. As if cold air were spreading along bad. As if cold water running down back Spinal irritation, due to sexual excesses. Sacrum as if beaten or dislocated. Swelling of cervical glands.
Breasts - Meta Mases from suppressed milk to the brain. abdominal troubles etc. Nipples. itch and bum. look red during pregnancy.
Causations - Blood poisoning. Frostbite. Mental exertion or excitement. overexertion. Fright. Alcoholism. sexual excess. subjective symptoms arising after sex.
Chest - Anxiety in chest. Stitches under short ribs, left side. Sharp pain behind sternum most at end of expiration. Sharp pain m right lung while walking. Severe burning in chest. Chest as if too narrow. Chest as if too full of blood. Chest as if sprained, worse deep breathing. Burning. biting pimples on chest.
Constitutions - Light hair. Skin and muscles lax. Old people with indolent circulation. Venous weakness. Diarrhea. Alcoholics. especially with headaches. Mushrooms are forbidden by Grauvogl to persons with the hydrogenoid constitution. The patients arc exceedingly sensitive to cold and damp.
Cough - Cough with rattling of mucus, without expectoration Dry cough after dinner. Cough ends i11 a sneeze. Spasmodic coughing at night after falling asleep. Cough with expectoration of little balls of mucus. Has to sit up in bed, or cough takes his breath. Has to sit down when cough comes. Violent attacks of coughing that can be suppressed by effort of will. worse eating. pain m head while cough lasts. Convulsive. hacking cough. with anxious sweat.
Ears - Itching in the ears with redness and burning pam. as 1f they had been frozen. Twitching of the muscles about the ears with noises. Rattling. muttering in tympanic cavity. Sharp pains in left mastoid process. Excessive secretion of wax. Very acute hearing. Feels worse from hearing people talk. Dull hearing.
Eyes - eyes as if weak. without having exerted them. Asthenopia from prolonged strain. Spasms of accommodation. Twitching of the lids a11d eyeballs I Cod.). Oscillating eyeballs. Heat in eyes. Lids heavy, as if stuck together. Eyelids thick, dry, burning red, itch and agglutinate. Inner angles very red. Gum in canthi. Narrowing of space between eyelids. Nystagmus, squint. Swelling of tear gland. Vesicles or ulcers on cornea. Lachrymation from smells or coughing. Sensitive to light, even candlelight. Pupils dilated.
Face - Face, blue and puffed. Grimaces. Idiotic expression. Facial twitching. Muscles feel stiff. Face itches and burns. Lancinating, tearing pain in cheeks, as of splinters. Neuralgia, as if cold needles ran through nerves or sharp ice touched them. Pricking in chin, as from needles. Herpetic eruptions. Pimples changing to vesicles filled with yellow serum. Burning and smarting on lips. Face ache with toothache. Jaws clenched. Eruption about mouth in growing children given to licking of lips.
Female-Spasmodic dysmenorrhea. Labor-like cramps, must lie down. Menses too profuse earlier. Menses with titillation in genital organs and desire for sex. Tearing, pressive pain in genitals and back, with itching. Severe bearing-down pains, especially after menopause. Bearing down pains on lifting. Leucorrhea, dark, bloody, excoriating, patient is unable to walk. Leucorrhea, with much itching, with sexual desire. Complaints following childbirth and sex. Itching, with sexual desire. Sexual excitement.
Food - Loss of appetite after sex. Thirsty all the time. Much hunger. but no relish for food. Better from coffee. Better for an hour after eating while he is so exhausted, but great sleepiness remains. Alcoholism. Craving for alcohol. Worse after tobacco. Worse tea and coffee. Wine causes indisposition to work. Coffee accelerates pulse. Meat causes heartburn. Prunes causes pressure in stomach. Smelling vinegar causes faintness. Smell of vinegar unbearable. Drinking cold water aggravates.
Head- Head inconstant motion. Headache must move head to and from Falling back-ward, as if a weight in occiput. Lateral headache. as if from a nail (Coff., lgn\ Dull headache from prolonged desk work.
Headache, must move the head to and from. Headache with nose bleed. Headache with thick mucus discharge. Headache better after stool or urination. Headaches of alcoholics. Aching in vertex. Head drawn towards shoulders. Pain in small spots. Cold spots on head. Icy coldness like icy needles or splinters. Sharp, tearing, aching and boring pain in occiput. Neuralgia with icy cold head. Desire to cover head warmly (Sil.). Twitching and stitches, more on left side. Scalp tender, sensitive. Itching nettle-rash on scalp.
Heart - Anxious sensation of pressure in heart. Irritable heart of tea and coffee drinkers, and tobacco smokers. Irregular, tumultuous palpations after tobacco. Heart region oppressed, as if thorax were narrowed. Oppression on bending body down. Palpitations with redness of face. Palpitations during sex and depressed afterwards in both the sexes. Pulse intermittent and irregular.
Kidneys - Lameness in left kidney, sore to touch. Stitches in urethra. Stitches and burning while urinating. Sudden and violent urging to urinate. Frequent urination. Viscid, glutinous, mucus from urethra. Urine, flows slowly or in drops, has to press for passing urine. Urine, cold, profuse, colorless, clear, lemon colored. As if a cold drop of urine were passing. Urine scanty and dark.
Limbs - Stiff all over. Pain over hips. Rheumatism better motion. Weakness in loins. Uncertain gait. Frostbite. Hands and feet very sensitive to cold. Itching of toes and feet as if frozen. Cramps in hands and feet. Cramp in soles of feet. Joints feel as if dislocated. Pain in shin. Neuralgia in locomotor ataxia. Muscular soreness. Paralysis of lower limbs with spasmodic condition of arms. Trembling and twitching. Numbness of legs on crossing them. Paralytic pain in left arm followed by palpitations. Tearing painful contractions in the calves. Rheumatism better motion.
Liver - Sharp pains in liver. Cirrhosis. Liver weakness from alcohol.
Lungs - Dyspnea while walking, has to stand still to get breath. Suffocative fits with anxiety and fainting. Labored, oppressed breathing. Difficult, noisy breathing. Frequent deep sighing. Dyspnea with rapid beating of head. Impeded breathing at night, from closure of nose by thick mucus. Rapid breathing, with heat all over and sweat. most in face. Easy expectoration of floculi or balls of mucus. Large brown lumps. Mucus, worse mornings.
Male- Burning in urethra during sex, worse ejaculation. Sexual desire increased. After sex, great debility, profuse sweat, burning and itching of the skin, tension and pressure under ribs. Hot seminal discharge. Premature ejaculation. Testes painfully retracted. Old gleet. Complaints after sexual debauches.
Modalities - Better from moving about slowly. Worse from open air. Worse cold or freezing air. Worse cold weather. Worse before a thunder storm. Worse sun. Worse morning. Worse after eating. Worse after sex. Worse from touch. Worse debauchery, alcohol. Worse mental exhaustion. Worse fright. Worse during menses. Worse pressure on dorsal spine.
Mouth – Aphthae on roof of mouth. Herpes on lips. Burning and smarting on lips. Offensive breath. Froth at mouth. Swelling and bleeding gums with pain. Angles of mouth droop from paralysis, saliva runs out. Twitching. Sweet, bitter taste. Taste sweet, sharp and bitter. Increased flow of acrid saliva. Salivation during menses. Thirsty all the time. Indistinct jerky speech.
Nose - Redness of nose. Nervous nasal disturbances. Hay fever, itching of nasopharynx and ear. Itching internally and externally. Spasmodic sneezing after coughing. sensitiveness. Watery discharge. Inner angles very red. Fetid, dark, bloody discharge. Nosebleeds in elderly people. Frequent sneezing without coryza. Flow of clear water without coryza. Redness. Obstruction on stooping. Sensation of soreness in nose and mouth.
Perspiration - Cold sweat on face. neck, chest. Sweats easily. Sweats on alternate sides. Night sweats. Copious sweat when walking, or from least ecersion. Greasy sweat, but not offensive. Sweats from anxious palpitations of head. Sweats during stool.
Rectum – Crampy colic, with passing wind. Sharp itching in rectum. itching, prickling in rectum and anus, as from worms. Biting in rectum after emission of 0atus. Flatus hot. Emission of much inodorous gas. Constipation with rumbling in bowels during pregnancy. Hemorrhoid. Writhing in rectum. Burning in anus. Warm feeling in anus. Anus as if completely closed. Dysentery.
Skin - Miliary eruptions with severe itching and burning. Burning, itching, redness and swelling, as if frozen. Pimples. hard like small fleabites. Chilblains. Angioneurotic edema, rosacea. Swollen veins with cold skin. Circumscribed erythematous, pupilar and pustular and edematous lesions. Itching changing place on scratching. Itching over affected part. Skin pains. when cold. Miliary eruptions with intolerable itching and burning. Slight blow causes ecchymosis.
Sleep - Sleeplessness from rush of ideas. Restless from violent itching and burning. On falling asleep, starts, twitches and awakens often. Drowsy in daytime. Unpleasant dreams awaking from sleep. Paroxysms of yawling. Frequent yawning before pains or spasms as a concomitant. Yawning followed by involuntary laughter. Vivid dreams. Anxiety as if suffocating in dreams. Nightmares of dead people and graveyards.
Stomach - Empty belching, tasting of apples. Flatulent distention of stomach. Profuse inodorous belching. Eructation, empty, tasting of apples or of rotten eggs. Belching and hiccoughs. Eructation alternating with hiccough. Burning in stomach about three hours after a meal, changing into a dull pressure. Gastric disturbance with sharp pains liver region. Nervous disturbances with spasmodic contractions, hiccough. As if a Jump in epigastrium. Vomiting, better with prostration with stitches in rectum and groin
Stools - Fetid stools. Pappy stool with cutting in abdomen and passing of wind Very hard stools. at first hard and knotty, then soft. finally diarrheic Diarrhea with much fetid, garlicky odor flatus. Diarrhea of children with gm, green bilious. Diarrhea. moment after rising.
Teeth - Teeth sensitive to touch. pressure, or while chewing Teeth as if too long Tearing pam. pulsating. worse cold air. Shooting pain from right upper teeth up to right side of head Teeth worse, when abdomen gets better. Toothache at beginning of menses. Swelling and bleeding gums with pain.
Temperature - Chills or sweats easily. Chills with warm face, hands and feet. Very sensitive to cool air Chilliness in open air. strikes through whole body. Shivering, over body. running from above downward. Goosebump, Violent attacks of fever in evening. Burning spots.
Throat - Stitches along eustach1an tube to ear. Face contracted. Small solid balls of phlegm thrown up. Dryness of pharynx. Swallowing difficult Scratching in throat, cannot sing a note. Burning, cooling feeling. Pressure from a foreign body in throat. not better swallowing. Dryness and constriction of pharynx. induration of tonsils and other glands.
Tongue - Tremulous tongue (Lach.}. Tongue coated white. Tongue dry. One side numb with vertigo. Tongue a, if dry and contracted as after an astringent. Splinter like pains in tongue with salivation. Sharp pain, soreness or burning at up of tongue. Bad taste at the root of tongue. Tip of tongue studded with small dirty yellow aphthae.
Vertigo. Vertigo in morning. Vertigo from sunlight. Vertigo from heat of sun. Vertigo with palpitation, Vertigo on walking. Vertigo reeling as drunk. vertigo with tendency to fall forward. Vertigo with stupefaction and burning in vertex. Vertigo after menses. Vertigo from yawning.
Vision - Short sighted. Dim and flickering vision. Flickering vision while writing. Reading difficult, as type seems to move to swim focal distance change, while reading. Dim vision as from a mist. Vibrating specters. Muscae volitantes. brown. Yellow, brown or black spot before left eye.
COMENTS - Mushrooms arc among the articles of diet forbidden to persons of the hydrogenoid constitution. in "which the patients are exceedingly, sensitive to cold and damp. Agreeing with this. in the proving of Agaricus is a great sensitiveness to cold air in skin disorders and brain exhaustions. give the lower potency. A left-sided remedy.
Talkott considered Agar. the most similar to general paralysis of all the remedies, with exalted notion, of grandeur and power. hilarity and excitement followed by depression. confusion. And imbecility
Ludicrous behavior. poor perception. Causes delirium. mania and idiocy. Very talkative and loquacious. and tend to be alcoholics (Lach.). Creative, tendency to poetry. prophesy. In coherent, speech Silly. may have a confused mind. can't think. State, of ecstasy and trance Wants to kiss and embrace everyone (Hyos.).
Mania with great displays of strength. Confusion in the brain if semi-intoxicated Tendency to use alcohol or drugs. spaced out. low energy. Disintegrated personality. Severe mood changes. irritability. May alternate between two state, one of being silly. foolish and manic and the other being depressed. Sad and indifferent and the states may alternate.
Worse in the morning and during the daytime. Spacey. awkward. Dull, stupid. poor memory. Can't function during the day. Relieved at night. Energy in the evening. They become more fluent, increased intellect. Worse mental exertion in general.
Marked and persistent vertigo with constant impulse to fall backward. Very sleepy after meals Twitching about eyes and face, redness without heat. puffy and distorted. Visual defects along with twitches. may have blurring vision or twitching in the left eye.
Vision - Double vision (Gels.}. Dim and Facial twitches, trigeminal neuralgias, tic douloureux. Spasmodic twitching throughout body, followed by tremulousness, finally relaxation and exhaustion. Don't twitch during sleep. Drops things. Hands fly open uncontrollably. Arm may snap or twitch without their knowing it (Nux-v.).
Muscular jerking and twitching, good for chorea. Spinal problems associated with twitching or brain problems associated with a retarded mind. Spasms and twitches due to spinal disease, arthritis or injury to the spine. Twitching is especially marked in the eyes, eye lids and facial muscles. Blepharospasm and tic convulsive.
Awkward people. Ankylosing spondylitis. Spine is as stiff as a board, as if spine would break (Tub., Rhus-t., Nat-m.). Severe arthritis of the spine. Shooting, burning pains in the spinal cord, as if the whole spine is on fire. Tingling deep in the spine. As if hot or cold needles are being stuck in the spine. For cold spots along the spine or very tender places that cannot be touched.
Numbness of the extremities from some spinal problems. Pain in the sacrum followed by general paralysis symptoms, numbness in the limbs. Burning up and down the spine (Phos.). Back and neck feel dislocated, or for slipped discs with severe pain (Bry., Rhus-t.). Formication of the skin as if bugs are crawling under the skin (Cocain.).
Symptoms in extremities are as if the blood was cut off to the feet or hands, severe numbness, tingling, biting, burning of the extremities, as if they are on fire. Spasms and then burning pain and numbness in their legs, intermittent claudication. Better moving, worse rest. Burning cold, numb, twitching. Awkward walk.
Feet feel so cold as if they are frozen, like blocks of ice. Frostbite. Ailments since frostbite or sensation as if frozen. Poor circulation where the hands and feet turn blue, then burn as if on fire. Chilblains, loss of blood to the extremities. Spasms in the arteries and cuts off the blood. Chilblains, worse heat. Creeping, crawling sensations, formication, itching.
Peripheral vascular disease when the blood vessels in the extremities have deteriorated to the threat of gangrene.
Compromised blood flow. Typhoid states. Epilepsy. Brain disorders and fever with rolling of the head.
Pain as if touched or pierced by needles of ice is very characteristic.
Diagonal symptoms, right side and left forearm (Lac-c.). Electric-like shocks with jerking, spasms and twitching, painful. For bone aches as if they would break.
Peculiar headaches, "throbbing headache with sensation of stiffness of muscles of face. Dull, drawing headache in the morning, extending into root of nose with nosebleed or thick mucus discharge. Pain as from a nail in right side of head." Face feels stiff with the headache.
Chilly remedy, worse cold weather, cold air, drinking cold water. They can also have sun headaches (Nat-m.). Worse from storms. Better in the evening, better warmth and better motion.
Ravenous appetite with bolting of food. Desire for eggs, sweets and salt. Used for sudden, morning diarrhea that smells like Sulphur (Aloe, Sulph., Rumx.). For diarrhea in children that is grass green (Cham.).
Worse after sex (Ph-ac., Sil.), may have more pains and twitches. Sexual desire enormous and enthusiastic with relaxed penis and impotence.
Bearing down pains in the pelvis as if everything will come with acrid, vaginal discharge with itching of the vagina. Also, for spasmodic chronic hiccups (Nux-v.) and herpes on the lips that bum and smart. The nervous patients requiring Agar. pass little urine (opp. lgn.), though the bladder may be irritable.
Clinical for alcoholism, intoxication, hangovers, DTs, the shakes. Worse alcoholic or for "old drunks", spasms, twitches or convulsions, frothing at the mouth with arching of the back(Nux-v.). Muscle quivers and delirium tremors. Disordered speech in alcoholics. Lost continuity of speech.
Children with retarded development. Late learning to walk and talk. For children who have slow minds or mental retardation. Fainting and twitching of children.
Or twitches and spasms ever since puberty or a shock. Excitement brings on twitches and spasms. Uncoordinated children, they stumble, fall, and drop things. It's hard for them to learn.
Very anxious about their health. Fear of cancer (Ars. Nit-ac., Phos. Kali-ar.). Preoccupation with spookiness, fear of ghosts. Talk and dream about the dead, are obsessed with coffins.
RELATIONS - Agar. stands between Stram. and Lach.
Antidote: Absin., Coff., Camph.
