The leaves of the Aegle-f. arc used by the Sannyasi (monks and ascetics) of India to suppress sexual desires and excitement (Agn.) as they have found it produces sexual impotency. For seminal weakness and impotency.

This remedy destroys phlegm, and is useful for fevers associated with catarrhal symptoms. Generally useful for bowel complaints. Diarrhea and dysentery. Alternating diarrhea and constipation, it acts as a mild stimulant to the intestinal mucus membrane. It can act as a laxative for existing constipation. Intestinal colic.

Eyes- Pain, soreness in the right eye, worse deep inspiration, sunlight, pressure. Sensation, as if sand in the eye. Watery discharge, left eye, better closing eyes. Agglutination of eyelids, worse morning.
Face - Jaw, aching with soreness in throat worse chewing. Jaw, right soreness and tenderness with enlarged cervical lymph nodes on the right-side worse chewing, swallowing, better warmth.
Food - Appetite diminished with bad taste in mouth. Appetite diminished during fever. Appetite, increased with increased thirst and sleepiness. Thirst for large quantity of water at short intervals. Desires rice, meat, milk.
Head-Heaviness of head. Heaviness, better after tea. Heaviness of head with sneezing, malaise, chilliness. Heaviness with sore-ness in right eye. Heaviness, with throat pain. Heaviness with thirst. Pain in frontal region better open air, better pressure. Bursting pain, in forehead. Pressing pain in the right frontal region, with profuse sweat all over the body.
Kidneys - Kidney stones. Urine yellow.
Limbs - Bruised pain, shoulders, hips, knee joints with sleepiness worse motion, better pressure. Aching pain in the right-hand worse movement of hand, holding any-thing by hand, better pressure. Pain in the knee joints worse motion. Eruptions, both hands, pimples like, painful worse touch, pressure, better cold bathing. Eruptions, lower limbs with itching, worse covering, warmth, better open air, undressing.
Lungs - Dyspnea, worse inspiration.
Mouth - Bitter taste in mouth. Salivation, profuse. Taste, bad with diminished ap-petite. Taste, bitter. Thick yellow coating on the tongue during fever. Tongue flabby with imprints of teeth on edges. Tongue thick, moist and yellow coating.
Nose-Watery discharge bland, white, worse bathing, change in temperature, better hot inhalation. Coryza, bland white or watery discharge. Sneezing with heaviness of head, malaise, chilliness. Sneezing worse pungent odor. Tickling sensation with thin watery, bland discharge. Thick, bland and yellowish discharge with profuse salivation, disturbed sleep.
Perspiration - Profuse sweat, all over the body, followed by weakness. Profuse, offensive sweat.
Skin - Pimple-like eruptions. Eruptions, popular, dark red, painful. Urticaria with itching. Urticaria with redness and swelling with restlessness. Itching, worse warmth, covering, better cold bathing, undressing.
Sleep - Sleepiness Day and night with uneasiness. Sleepiness with increased appetite and thirst.
Stomach- Nausea, vomiting with weakness. Nausea at the sight of food. Vomiting of watery fluid containing food particles, sour smelling.
Stools - Semi-solid stool with diminished appetite and bad taste in mouth.
Temperature - Fever with weakness, diminished appetite. Heat worse at midnight with bursting pain in forehead. Fever without chill worse at night. Fever with thirst for large quantities of cold water.
Throat - Pain, bruised. amel. hot drinks. Pam, stitching with dry cough worse during deglutition, hot drinks. Soreness. worse swallowing. Soreness with aching in jaw worse chewing.
Vertigo - Vertigo worse lying down. Vertigo worse physical exertion, better lying down. Vertigo worse on walking and standing. Vertigo with darkness before eyes.
COMMENTS - An anti psoric remedy, historically used for skin diseases such as itches and ringworm. An anti-bilious and febrifuge remedy.
Headache due to congestion. Headache between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m. (Lye.). Heat in the vertex appears in the evening, relieved by eating something. In the afternoon and evening, flushes of heat come out from the eyes and face, and in the ear. All these symptoms disappear after eating.
Irregularity or disorder of the stomach, abdomen is distended and flatus passes with a loud sound, worse in the afternoon. Water brash. Accumulation of wind in the lower abdomen. Constipation with flatus (Lye.). Indigestion, abdominal colic. piles and constipation (Nux-v.). Chronic gastrointestinal catarrh with flatulent colicky pains. Decreased quantity of urine.
Slight pain m the back and lumbar region that is worse in the afternoon. All pains in the limbs arc aggravated after four p.m. Beriberi, with a full. strong and regular pulse (Dig. with irregular or intermittent pulse). Swollen upper eyelids. Anasarca, ascites and edema of all sorts. Full, strong and regular pulse (Bell.).
Chronic fevers associated with hepatic and splenic disorders, with swollen feet, burning in the eye, face, hands. and feet, no appetite, diminished urine, and cough. Continual fever. Fever with swelling in the hands, legs and face. Catarrhal fevers in children. Fever with dropsy and diarrhea. Influenza, with fever and swollen face and eyelids. Bronchitis and pneumonia.
Lt. Col. R. N. Chopra asserted that none of the preparations appear to possess any specific therapeutic properties to cure either runoebic or bacillary dysentery, but its efficacy is certain in chronic cases with the keynote symptoms.
Ghose noted the case of Babu Sarai Chandra Jana. aged 28, who had sudden swellings of his legs and feet on March 2, 1932. His urine was examined, but there was no albumen present. The urine became scanty and high-colored. Pain over the hepatic region. Giddiness of head and heart palpitations.
Ghosc prescribed Boerhaavia D1ffusa in drop doses to be taken thrice daily, the medicine was continued for six days and the patient got rid of the swelling and other complaints within ten days.
Ghosc had a second case, Babu Santiram Roy, aged 28, who had an epidemic dropsy on May 30. 1932. He was treated by several well-known allopath of Calcutta, but nothing could lessen the swelling. Ghosc was called in on June 14.
The patient complained of a terrible headache, principally on the right side. Pre-existing liver derangement, at the time it was congested and painful to touch or pressure. Swollen hands, feet and abdomen. Scanty, high-colored urine.
Cough with thick, white mucus expectoration. Throbbing pain in the cardiac region felt off and on. Ghose prescribed Boerhaavia in 2-drop doses thrice daily. He was cured within a month.
Ghose cured more than 30 cases of epidemic dropsy with the help of this new drug.
Aegle marmclos contains almost all the identical therapeutic propenies ascribed to Aeglc folia.
